Staying home over spring break? Got a couple days of downtime? If so, there are plenty of ways you can get going on your summer job/internship search!
- Schedule an informational interview with an employer! Not only is this a great way to learn about a potential career field, but it also helps you network with someone in the industry who might know someone who could give you even more info or even be able to mentor you.
- Spruce up your LinkedIn. Maybe you’ve been putting it off, but now is the time to fix up your profile! Take advantage of the beautiful weather and have a friend take your new professional profile pic outside! Connect with alumni who work in fields in which you take an interest and message them to see if you can find out more about what they do.
- Read The 2-Hour Job Search! If you missed author Steve Dalton on campus a couple weeks ago, you can still read his book and learn how to find an internship or job in two hours! The helpful guide is full of useful information when it comes to networking and making the most of technology in your job search and is a must read for anyone who is on the hunt for a new position.
- Brand yourself by fixing up your resume and making business cards! Being able to hand an employer your freshly polished resume along with a business card is impressive and will come in handy for our March 2017 Summer Jobs and Internships Fair. Stand out from the pack and make yourself memorable!
Whatever you do, make the most of your break and remember to relax, Captains! You’re almost done with the school year!
